Amazing Grass Protein Superfood

If you follow me on social media… {SNAP: Jhiggs787} and {IG:Myhealthypassion} YOU KNOW…I have been LOVING a very specific protein powder.  Like seriously LOVING! I can’t stop talking about it.

but before I get to that…let’s talk about why I normally do not eat protein powders.

  1. I don’t like the “chalky” taste it leaves.
  2. I don’t care for the 800 million ingredients.
  3. Lots of artificial sweeteners.
  4. They simply do not taste good.

Now….I was super stoked when I received an amazing package from AMAZING GRASS. It was the best care package EVER.  I am all about on the go breakfast and I want so badly to love shakes…but never did.  But I wasn’t sure how I felt about the powder.  Because, I normally do not like them, remember all of the above statements.

I started to look at the ingredients, and I’ll be honest, I was super impressed. I LOVED that it was plant based.  Amazing Grass Protein SuperFood contains a unique blend of USDA Organic pea, hemp, chia and quinoa, delivering 20g of complete plant-based protein per serving plus 7 alkalizing organic greens and two-full servings of wholesome fruits and vegetables. Each flavor is also grain-free, paleo friendly, and can be enjoyed alone with water, added to a smoothie or almond, cashew or coconut milk. The line’s unique pea protein is the only available source that is 100 percent grown, harvested and processed in the USA, providing one of the smoothest, best tasting plant-based proteins on the market. I mean, I was excited to try it.

Then my friends…I tasted it.  I LOVED it.  I threw into my blender a scoop of vanilla powder, strawberries, ice, water, and a heaping spoonful of peanut butter.  (I also tried the chocolate peanut butter and AMAZING) I LOVED IT! This powder has turned me into a smoothie machine.

I never like powders, but this one is different.  I want to shout from the roof tops how much I love it.  Take my word for it, try it. You will NOT be disappointed!

Marvelous in my Monday!

I am joining in on the FUN of MIMM for the 1st time! Finding some MARVELOUS in my Monday! Something that Katie, from Healthy Diva Life started! Trying to kick off the week with some positive vibes.  This is a total hodge-podge post of weekend review and things I’m excited about, so enjoy!

This weekend was very chill.  Lots and lots of rain and wine.  We kicked off Friday evening with a dinner date with our two friends.  Cheers to good food and even better friends.  Headed into Saturday with plans of shopping at outlets and some family time, then Sunday was all about house projects/grocery shopping, and brunchin! You know… the usual.

What am I excited about lately, read on!

This sports bra.  Yep, I bought it at the NIKE outlet…for TEN DOLLARS! Guys, it said it was originally $75.00 and I about died when I saw that it was on super clearance.   I couldn’t find the exact one online, but its VERY similar to this on below.  I love it.

Next thing…I am LOVING Snapchat.  I  think it is SO much fun.  I just snap away.  Whether its food, recipes, facts, essential oils, or complete randomness…I snap about it.  So…Follow me for some  random fun.  (Jhiggs787) Also… who do you follow on snap. Looking for so new peeps!

-Early morning workouts.  Yep. You read that right.  I am LOVING my early morning workouts.  It feels  SO awesome to get them out of the way.  However, I DO cringe when that alarm goes off.  But once I am up, I feel pretty good.

-With that being said… I have been going to OrangeTheory Fitness (OTF) once a week sometimes twice, kind of like a supplemental workout.  And guys, I love it.  As a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, its SO nice to go and feel like I am the one who is getting trained.   I will do a solid post of Orangetheory and will give you a full run down.  But, in the meantime, give it a try if there is one in your area.

-This Maybelline concealer.  Its amazing. It really works under eyes to brighten.  Just take my word for it and try it.  And, you can buy it at the drugstore, won’t break the bank.

-This lip oil.  Its my go to for just a little shine on the lips.  Again, drugstore buy! Big spender!

-Food! I have been loving Aldi lately.  They have really stepped up their game on organic & healthy choices.  Yesterday at  our trip to Aldi’s, we picked up a new flavor of hummus.  Nick’s sister recommended a new flavor…Jalapeno & pineapple hummus.  It is out of this world delicious.  I was snacking on it with some sugar snap peas and pretzels, pretty much I could eat with a spoon.  Give it a try, you will love it!

-Lastly, I can’t stop buying FUN colored workout pants.  I mean, I wear them daily, so its important to me that they are 1. cute. 2. comfy 3. supportive.  And, these ones I found at Victoria Secret fit my needs.  IMG_2329

Ok friends…that’s all.  This is such a mess of a post with lots of randomness…but hey, we are staying positive on the beautiful SUNNY Monday!

Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash Casserole!

If you follow me on SNAPCHAT ( shameless plug…. jhiggs787) you know what I had for dinner last night, Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash casserole. I love anything buffalo chicken, but guys…this is REALLY GOOD! I had many friends and family ask for the recipe right away, so I had to share! I apologize for the low quality pictures, but you’ll get the gist!

Its relatively easy to do and to follow! And if you cook your spaghetti squash ahead of time or throw in the microwave, its not too time consuming! Here is how I cook my squash.  I used PaleoMG’s recipe as a guide, but I DID switch it up quite a bit.

Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 medium spaghetti squash (about 21⁄2 pounds)
  • 3 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 stalks celery, diced
  • 1/4 Cup Reduced Fat Cheddar (optional)
  • 1⁄2 medium yellow onion, minced
  • 2-3 Large Cooked Chicken Breast, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup hot sauce (I used my fav, Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1⁄4 cup Sour Cream (I used fat free)
  • 3 large eggs, whisked
  • sliced avocado, for garnish
  • Cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Follow my directions for baking a spaghetti squash or pop in microwave!
  3. Grease a casserole baking dish with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil.
  4. Let the squash cool for 5 minutes, remove the seeds, and then use a fork to remove the threads and place them in the greased baking dish.
  5. In a large sauté pan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the garlic, celery, onion, and whatever other veggies you want to add and cook for about 10 minutes, until the onion is translucent. Remove from heat.
  6. Add the shredded chicken, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the veggie mixture.  Make sure all is mixed.
  7. Add the hot sauce, cheddar cheese, and sour cream and mix well to combine.
  8. Add the chicken mixture to the baking dish and mix well with the spaghetti squash threads.
  9. Add the whisked eggs and mix everything together until you can no longer see the eggs.
  10. Bake for 1 hour or the top will form a slight crust. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with cilantro, a little extra cheese, and avocado slices. Or even some salsa and extra sour cream!

We had our last bootcamp of this session this morning, High five!  My last 5:00 AM wake-up call for awhile….WOO HOO! (If your in the Pittsburgh area, I will be starting a new session soon) I was so proud of the women who attended! They ALL said they have seen an improvement in their bodies! They all stated that they feel much more toned, stronger, and stronger endurance! That’s what its all about!

I had a brainstorming idea.  This blog of mine once started out as a way for me to make health and wellness information easy to understand.  As time has gone on, I have shared some things about my life, fitness, recipes, essential oils, problems…and have gotten away from basic tips on health & Wellness. This leads me into my this. I thought I would start a fun little weekly Wednesday chat! Kicking off a wellness Wednesday new tradition!  Every Wednesday I will be sharing a wellness tip! Maybe it will be groundbreaking or an obvious tip for you…sometimes it may be on food, fitness,life hacks or even essential oils!  I always think its important to understand the why.  Many of us know we need to eat certain foods OR do certain exercises, but often do not know WHY. So I’d love to start chatting about some easy ways to get healthy in all areas.  So cheers to health tip number 1.
