Amazing Grass Protein Superfood

Amazing grass and FitApproach sponsored this post. All opinions are my own.

{WARNING, lots of exclamation points and capital letters are used in this post}

If you follow me on social media… {SNAP: Jhiggs787} and {IG:Myhealthypassion} YOU KNOW…I have been LOVING a very specific protein powder.  Like seriously LOVING! I can’t stop talking about it.

but before I get to that…let’s talk about why I normally do not eat protein powders.

  1. I don’t like the “chalky” taste it leaves.
  2. I don’t care for the 800 million ingredients.
  3. Lots of artificial sweeteners.
  4. They simply do not taste good.

Now….I was super stoked when I received an amazing package from AMAZING GRASS. It was the best care package EVER.  I am all about on the go breakfast and I want so badly to love shakes…but never did.  But I wasn’t sure how I felt about the powder.  Because, I normally do not like them, remember all of the above statements.

I started to look at the ingredients, and I’ll be honest, I was super impressed. I LOVED that it was plant based.  Amazing Grass Protein SuperFood contains a unique blend of USDA Organic pea, hemp, chia and quinoa, delivering 20g of complete plant-based protein per serving plus 7 alkalizing organic greens and two-full servings of wholesome fruits and vegetables. Each flavor is also grain-free, paleo friendly, and can be enjoyed alone with water, added to a smoothie or almond, cashew or coconut milk. The line’s unique pea protein is the only available source that is 100 percent grown, harvested and processed in the USA, providing one of the smoothest, best tasting plant-based proteins on the market. I mean, I was excited to try it.

Then my friends…I tasted it.  I LOVED it.  I threw into my blender a scoop of vanilla powder, strawberries, ice, water, and a heaping spoonful of peanut butter.  (I also tried the chocolate peanut butter and AMAZING) I LOVED IT! This powder has turned me into a smoothie machine.

I never like powders, but this one is different.  I want to shout from the roof tops how much I love it.  Take my word for it, try it. You will NOT be disappointed!

Let me know if you do…you will LOVE it!!!

Are you a protein powder fan, this one has made me a believer!

Now, onto some meal ideas for this week! I have been trying lots of new recipes lately…trying to switch things up a bit! I have been slightly bored with my meal choices lately. Here is whats on the menu this week from alllllllll around the web!! I’ll let you all know what I find!

Quino enchilada casserole

Quinoa Enchilada Casserole….I think this sounds soooooo good! I will make some slight changes though!

paleo-potato-and-sausage-bake-640x427How good does this dish look from A Healthy Slice of Life!

Buffalo Chicken lettuce wraps…my own recipe!

I am also thinking an easy Chicken stir fry! As far as our lunches go…left overs/salads! So hopefully I will love these new recipes.  P.S….I am SOOOOO ready for SPRING!!!!! My FAVORITE season!!!!!!! 🙂

Do you like to try new recipes?! Ever feel like you eat the same stuff over and over?!?!

Mexican Stuffed Spaghetti Squash

OUCH! My back still hurts!  I am writing this with a bag of peas on my lower back. I haven’t been able to work out all week, only stretching, lots of stretching and some yoga sequences. Okay, enough rambling…

I have been searching high and low for some creative healthy meal ideas. I get bored easily with the same kinda stuff.    I am trying to stick with lighter fulfilling meals because I am currently doing Weight Watchers (works very well for me, we do an at work program!!).  As I mentioned before, I have been trying to plan for the whole week.  If I don’t do that, my “diet” gets out of control.  Its all about control people!!

So I had an extra spaghetti squash from last weeks meal planning.  And I was searching for  some inspiration. Ladies and gents….this was my inspiration.  Southwestern Stuffed Spaghetti Squash by The Comfort of Cooking.

SouthwesternStuffedSpaghettiSquash-31 (1)

I didn’t follow the recipe at all except for how to cook the actually squash prior to stuffing.  I love seeing fabulous recipes and creating them into your own. Which is exactly what I did, you should never feel that you have to follow every step/ingredient.  I sauteed ground turkey breast, onion, and  black beans  with some cumin and taco seasoning.  Then I cut the squash in half and shredded it.  I added the turkey mixture.  Top with a little cheddar cheese, light sour cream, scallions, and cilantro! And O.M.G.  So incredibly delicious.  I am playing around with a recipe for Mediterranean stuff squash! I will share that shortly!

I was too hungry and impatient to take pictures of my meal….plus I am working on my horrible food photography skills…they are horrendous!

Where do you find inspiration for meals/recipes? Do you meal plan, if not, do you “get out of control”?!?

Oodles of Zoodles

We made it, we are half way through the week! Hopefully its going well for you, so far so good over here! I have been trying to stick with my meal planning program and keeping healthy choices all around. #thestruggleisreal
I love pasta, and in my opinion, not much can replace it. Right?! Doughy, addictive, saucy, and cheesy pasta! I mean, I LOVE spaghetti squash and other alternatives, but lets be real…nothing can necessarily totally replace pasta. However, we can have a lot of fun trying!
For awhile now, I have been wanting to try ZOODLES! “Noodles” made from zucchini! A pretty cool alternative and significantly lower in calories. I have been seeing it all over blogs, websites, and magazines. I finally caved in and ordered a SPIRALIFE from Amazon.

Well last night, I finally made the zoodles! and ladies and gentlemen….they were a total hit!!!!

zoodlesIt took two zucchini and about 68 seconds to do this. I had loads of zoodles. I then sauteed them in a little olive oil, salt, and garlic….top with some grilled chicken sausage and pasta sauce! Voila! Healthy, low carb meal that was surprisingly very satisfying! Very low in Weight Watcher points too! I loved it and it was very tasty, more so than the other squash! I already can’t wait to try it again, a few different variations! I’m thinking sweet potatoes…stay tuned!

So are you ready for the Super Bowl!?! I love all the talk about the commercials.  I have seen lots of appetizer recipes floating around.  Lots of dips, spreads, and finger foods! Allllllllll my favorites! I love a good app spread, again #thestruggleisreal . And lets be honest, enjoy yourself, everything in moderation!   Here is one of my favorite appetizer recipes, super easy, and everyone always wants the recipe! I have never made the recipe exact, I always make it into my own, but here is the original! Its Easy Feta dip from The Girl Who Ate Everything

Have you ever tried Zoodles?

Whats your favorite super bowl snack?

Core Crusher

WOW, its cold in Pittsburgh. As expected,it is January. But still, it’s just shockingly (is that a word?!) cold!!!

So I have a great core workout for you to warm up the body! I am not a fan of “AB” exercises.  They aren’t my favorite, unlike squats, I could do those for days (I know, strange!) But I find core circuits to be fun and a challenge that I like.  There are several different exercises on here, so its a good variety.  I created this for my own  workout but also tried  with a client, and she loved it! If you try it, let me know what you think!Core Crusher

Now, on to food. I am always looking for healthy recipes to try to  and also keep my interest in meal planning! I love to cook! So, I was searching SkinnyTaste which is one of my favorite spots to go to find new recipes…and This recipe sparked my interest.  Crock Pot Balsamic Pork Roast.   Guys, it was SOOO good, you have to try it! and anything in the crock pot is a WIN! I made it on Sunday and ate it on top of a large salad and same with Monday night. It had SO much flavor! I did splurge on a pork shoulder from Whole Foods simply because I am trying to buy better animal products when I do eat them. (That’s a whole post topic in it of itself) I feel it was definitely worth it.  Also, if your counting Weight Watcher Points, it was 5PP for a 3 oz serving! You must try it!

Have a fantastic Thursday, stay warm!

What are your least favorite types of exercise?! Do you have a must try recipe?!
