Make your own flea and tick collar with essential oils with this simple DIY recipe. A short soak & overnight dry keeps flea and ticks off dogs for a month! Read below for the recipe!
As all of you know, I have two handsome beagles who I love, Henry & Arthur. What I don’t love…fleas and ticks. YUCK!
Apparently, ticks are out of control this year. And personally, I don’t want to deal with them. Do you? We love taking the dogs on outdoor adventures, but I don’t want the worry of ticks. I use to use the over the counter medications, collars, and remedies all the time, no names mentioned…and yeah they worked however they are horrible for our dogs and us humans. I didn’t realize the damage they were doing to my little loves.
So naturally, I did what I do best, started to google and search for books. I searched high and low for some alternatives. Little did I know, I had the answer the entire time. My essential oils. In this recipe, I use an oil blend called terrashield, this blends includes: Ylang Ylang Flower, Nootka Wood, Cedarwood Wood, Catnip, Lemon Eucalyptus, Litsea Fruit, Arborvitae Wood…and I add a few extra drops of lemongrass. Fleas and ticks also HATE lavender, so you could also use a drop of that in this mixture!
I also mix a batch in a spray bottle, and for extra protection spray their limbs and underbelly!
